Scout the Shot helps photographers search locations by ZIP or GPS, save the spots worth returning to, and plan a shoot around the light — all before packing the car.
Built for working photographers. Coming soon to iOS.
ZIP or GPS, radius, Quick or Deep mode, and a vibe from graffiti to golden fields.
Every spot you save stays organized with notes and tags, ready for next time.
Real golden hour and blue hour windows, calculated for any ZIP code and date.
Line up sessions around the light you just calculated, all in one place.
Tap "+ New Shoot" or use "Plan Shoot" on a saved location.
Everything you need to go from "where should I shoot this" to standing in the right spot at the right time.
Look up a ZIP code or drop a GPS pin, then add a vibe, from graffiti to golden fields. Quick mode is fast, Deep mode is more extensive.
Save the spots you scout, attach reference photos, and keep notes for the next time you shoot there.
Check golden hour and light conditions for any saved spot, then line up your shoot on the Planner.
Scout Core controls how much you can save. Search Pro controls how much you can search. Buy either one, both, or neither.
Everyone gets a limited free tier and the golden hour calculator, always free, with no purchase required.
Scout the Shot is made by Focal Works LLC, based in Maryland. It started from a simple problem: trying to find interesting locations to photograph a client for a particular theme and wasting valuable time seeking help online by searching and posting questions in forums and not getting answers for finding good session locations in a particular area. Every feature that exists within the Scout The Shot app is to solve that same problem and for all portrait, fashion, and landscape photographers.
Scout the Shot is launching soon. Join the list to hear first.
